India - enchanting, evocative, sensual, endlessly fascinating, ancient and modern – truly magical.  No other destination can match the sheer variety of experience and diversity of culture that India has to offer. Sandstone fortress cities, lush tea gardens, golden palm-fringed beaches, awe-inspiring mountain landscapes, wildlife sanctuaries, exquisite palaces, ancient sacred monuments. There are currently 28 remarkable World Heritage Sites spread throughout the country. India has it all, and more.

Its colourful, and often turbulent, history stretches back more than 5,000 years. Passing centuries, with successive cultures and rulers, have left behind a legacy of vast wealth in terms of architecture and the arts. Today’s modern India, which took root at Independence in 1947, is vibrant and progressive. Each region of this immense country has its own distinctive culture, character, terrain, climate and cuisine.

The geography of India is as diverse as its people and culture, with the majestic Himalayas in the north, land below sea-level in the far south, over 6,000 km of coastline, the Thar Desert in Rajasthan, marshlands in Gujarat and mangrove forests in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

India’s climate defies easy generalization and includes a wide range of weather conditions across a large geographic scale and varied topography. Generally speaking, there are four seasons: winter (January and February), summer (March to May), monsoon (rainy) season (June to September), and a mild, pleasant post-monsoon period (October to December). These seasons vary depending on region, altitude and proximity to the equator so throughout the year it is always possible to find a destination that suits your desires weather-wise. India is truly a land for all seasons.
