GIR NATIONAL PARK
The Gir National Park – The sole home of the pure Asiatic lions is considered to be the best protected areas in Asia.The largest area of dry deciduous forests in Gujarat was declared as a sanctuary in 1965 and subsequently an area of 258.71 sq. km. was declared a National Park. The park is internationally acclaimed for successfully saving this precious species from the brink of extinction.
Gir has a topography made up of succession of rugged ridges, isolated hills, plateaus and valleys. Besides, being the last abode of Asiatic lions, Gir forms a unique habitat for other wildlife as well.

Lions, Leopards, Rusty spotted cat, Civets, Ruddy Mongoose, Cobras. The major herbivores found in this area are - Four horned, Chinkara, Blue bull, Chital etc.
More than 300 species of birds been listed here and most of them are resident. 6 recorded species of vultures are also seen here.
